"Running things around the capital"

Our club chairman Sakis Vellios took part in this weekends London Marathon to raise funds for Children with Cancer UK. Sakis Vellios is not just our club chair but has played a key part in helping to help set up our club. With both his sons Harry and Antonio both playing for our U16s and U12s team respectfully.

This is Sakis second London Marathon after he 1st took part in last years event. Sakis is not alone in the London Marathon his accompanied by his wife Irini, brother Antonio, and two children Harry and Antonio Jr.

Here is his story

" Hi all I'm running the London Marathon for the second year in a row and my aim is to finish it safe,and with a smile. This time around the winning formula is having a running buddy with me, that is my wife and and life time partner. It will be her first time ever in a long distance race but she made such a huge difference already.

All those cold winter mornings training she managed somehow to get us out of bed for a run. she is a great inspiration to me throughout the tough training process. I'm very proud to be running for Children with Cancer U.K. It is for such a great cause and a charity with an actual positive impact in my life, for all those families who have to fight with cancer daily. That is tough but there is hope if we all keep on trying to make a change."
